The primary objective of ELCIA is to provide a forum for its members to interact with each other and to jointly tackle problems faced by them in their day to day operations. The Association also represents the members in other forums as well as in interactions with Govt. agencies. However, the roles and responsibilities of the Association have expanded manifolds after being assigned the job of maintaining the Electronics City and undertaking development work which also involves participating in meetings involving the State Govt. as well as meetings outside Bangalore involving the Central Govt. To this end, ELCIA has taken on a larger and more active role than just protecting the interests of its member organisations. For instance;

ELCIA provides, at its expense, a large number of traffic wardens equipped with walkie-talkies, all along the Hosur Road, BTM Layout and Sarjapur Road to assist the Bangalore Traffic Police in managing the ever growing and chaotic traffic on Bangalore roads. These traffic wardens work through shifts that commence at 4.00AM and end at 10.00PM. This has eased the traffic congestion along the roads thus resulting in a reduced travel time as well as reduced stress levels.

ELCIA has gifted jeeps and motorcycles to the Bangalore Traffic Police to enable them to effectively patrol the highway as well as within the Electronics City.

ELCIA has provided accommodation at their expense for the Police Station in the Electronics City.

ELCIA partly funded the construction of a state of the art Fire Station in the Electronics City.

ELCIA has been actively coordinating the construction of the Elevated Highway project for creating an uninterrupted travel between the Electronics City and the Silk Board. This involves interactions with NHAI, the GoI and the Consortium of builders.

ELCIA has been contributing to the greening of the Electronics City through a vigorous and continuing tree planting drive over the last ten years. This has resulted in the addition of more than 20,000 trees in the area.

ELCIA is now looked upon by the Govt. as well as other organisations as a role model and a source for innovative solutions and ideas.
